I'm looking for a high quality surround AV receiver that is actually "Made In Japan"?

All the high end AV equipment out there (Sony, Denon, Marantz, etc.) are made in China, Malaysia, and the Phillipines with cheap, inferior parts that will break in 2-5 years. I was hoping there is a solidly built AV Surround receiver out there that is still made in Japan with solid, quality parts and electronics.

THX sound is optional, HDMI optional. Model numbers would be great. I just want a true Japanese-built surround receiver that%26#39;s built like a tank.

Answer:

The Denon AVR2807

http://www.crutchfield.com/s-40ivzagqs9o... try Nakamichi, Onkyo, Yamaha, all their higher end stuff is made in Japan But no receiver will ever be as good as a component system with a pre amp and individual amps to power the system. you cant run exotic THX speakers off a receiver because most just handle 6 ohms minimum but out of the 3 best bet would be the Yamaha next Onkyo Well, I believe Onkyo is, and it%26#39;s a very high-quality brand. What do the Japanese buy when they want high end audio.......American made.

It%26#39;s really true. Of course you have to pay for it, but some things are worth it. Go for Onkyo. It manufactures really a trouble free home theatre system. The speakers are, however, manufactured in Malaysia.I use the system of Onkyo for past 7 years with utmost satisfaction.

I'm looking for a Panasonic DVD recorder to replace my VHS recorder, which model is best?

I really like the look of the Panasonic ones, and my VHS recorder was a Panasonic (it%26#39;s lasted nearly ten years, amazing considering it has been used almost daily!) so I want to stick to the brand. I will be looking at ex-display or 2nd hand items because I can%26#39;t afford new, I just want something that will replace my video recorder effectively and efficiently. I find it really difficult finding what I want on review sites, they always seem interested in the latest and most expensive models and probably judge them on much higher standards than are necessary for my needs, I%26#39;m just Joe Average and not a home cinema perfectionist freak.

Suggestions on what to look for, in-depth knowledge, or personal experience is most welcome!

PS Component AV I/O (phono) is a must.

Answer:

I bought a Panasonic DVD-recorder about 6 months ago after some decently extensive research. I am also a fan of Panasonic for the quality of their products.

I bought the DMR-EH50. Many DVD recorders out there, especially the less expensive ones, do NOT contain a Hard drive allowing you to record first to the hard drive and then to a DVD disc. I HIGHLY recommend getting a model with a hard drive (like this one). It doesn%26#39;t have to be huge, just something. This allows you to record many hours of programming which is really helpful. Not only can you record many hours, but you can do it in high quality. Just like your VCR has quality settings for SP, LP, SLP, the DVD recorder has somethingn similar. The DMR-EH50 has 4 settings, SLP, LP, SP, and XP. XP being the best, you will hardly notice a difference between the recording and original tv. The lower settings give you much longer recording time, but the quality will go down. I try to use XP as much as possible. If you use a recorder without a hard drive, you will need to worry about putting discs into it. What happens if you want to record 4 shows while you%26#39;re at work? You either have to use 1 disc, and a very Low recording setting (LP = about 4 hours), yeilding fairly poor quality. OR, you can get all 4 shows onto the hard drive in the best Quality XP setting and not worry about discs. Then later on, you can record each show onto its own disc. (you can still decide to put all 4 shows on 1 disc if you wanted when you dub from hard drive to disc).

I'm looking for a rare song?

I%26#39;m trying to find a song by Bryan Adams - it%26#39;s called "Diana". It came out in the early 80%26#39;s as a b-side single. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm looking for a replacement remote for a sharp dvhr300h without getting ripped off! any ideas?

Answer:

hi you can get universal remotes from argos or any leading electrical shop. You programme it to your appliance. BUT 1 FROM ME £300 (may not work) only jokin ask them in curry%26#39;s, comet, argos or some electrical place. Here in the UK , there is a type of universal remote contol - all in one, three in one, four in one etc.

These tend to be TV,Video, Satelite, Digibox etc.

These are programmed by entering a number from the remote control instruction book.

I would expect to pay £10 to £150 for one - models vary.

Try your local Currys.digital or comet store.

Answer:

I doubt such a system is available since it would be very expensive .Only thing on market now is an analog sender/receiver unit which can be bought at Circuit city but that only send %26#39;s a very poor quality analog signal on a 2.4 mhz signal .

I'm looking for DVDs with GREAT Surround Sound for demo purposes - Stuff that's Old and New

Looking for scenes that can be used to demonstrate surround sound for training classes for employees and consumers. Stuff that is exciting, something that made you turn when you heard it, something that made you think, WOW that was awesome.

Not the lobby scene from the Matrix, or stuff that is overdone and talked about.

Feel free to make a long list.

Thank you.

Answer:

Over the Hedge - When RJ and Verne were trying to escape from a menacing dog, while dragging their wagon-full of food.

They end up accidentally dragging a propane tank from a barbecue. When the tank blew up and became a rocket, I was

in awe of the sound.

Minority Report - When detective Anderton(Tom Cruise) was being pursued by guys on futuristic jet-packs out to arrest him.

They ended up crashing into some apartments and broke through

walls and ceilings. Crazy sequence full of amazing sound.

The Bourne Identity - The car chase on Paris streets with the

Mini.

Lost in Space - The first space dogfighting scene.

Sound coming from all directions with nice explosions.

A Beautiful Mind - Basically, every scene when John Nash (Russel Crowe) was having paranoid delusions.

X-Men 2 - When their Jet was being chased and fired on with missiles by fighter planes.

Another scene from this movie is:

when the dam at Alkali Lake(or Alkalai, I forgot the spelling) breaks. WoW!

Spiderman 2 - The sequence when Spiderman tries to stop an out of control train.
